INDRAMAYU, September 25, 2025 – As one of Indonesia’s leading shipyard and shipping companies, Waruna Group reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development through the implementation of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. Held in conjunction with World Maritime Day, the initiative carried the theme “Strengthening Coastal Communities.” The program reflects a tangible synergy between the private sector and government in promoting inclusive growth across coastal and island communities, in line with the Indonesia Emas 2045 Vision and the nation’s Blue Economy agenda.

The success of Indonesia’s Blue Economy concept relies heavily on the empowerment of coastal communities, particularly fishermen. Recognizing this need, Waruna Group focused its CSR program on two villages—Sukahaji and Bugel in Indramayu Regency, West Java. The program was implemented in collaboration with local Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD) and Fish Auction Centers (TPI).
The assistance provided included the distribution of 600 sets of environmentally friendly fishing gear, 200 lifebuoys, and the delivery of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) awareness training for local fishermen.

Based on field surveys, the fishing community in Eretan operates approximately 200 fishing vessels, with each vessel typically manned by two to three crew members for daily fishing activities. One of the primary challenges identified was the limited availability of safety equipment onboard. In addition to supporting fishing productivity through environmentally friendly fishing gear, the provision of lifebuoys is expected to offer a practical safety solution that does not hinder fishermen’s mobility while significantly improving safety standards at sea.
"As a company whose roots are deeply embedded in the maritime sector, Waruna Group has both the responsibility and commitment to contribute directly to coastal communities, which play a vital role within Indonesia’s marine ecosystem. Through this CSR program, held in conjunction with World Maritime Day, we aim to create a meaningful and sustainable impact by focusing on safety and productivity improvements for fishermen," said Adam K. Rumanda, Corporate Communication Assistant Manager of Waruna Group.

"The selection of environmentally friendly fishing gear and lifebuoys was based on actual needs identified in the field. We also believe that OHS education is essential to increase awareness of the importance of safety among fishermen while carrying out their activities at sea," Adam added.
Looking ahead, Waruna Group will continue to support various social and community development initiatives that align with Indonesia’s maritime vision. At the same time, with a strong and well-established business foundation in the domestic market, the Company is exploring opportunities to expand its business operations beyond Indonesian waters. This strategic direction forms part of Waruna Group’s long-term vision to become a leading shipyard and shipping company, consistently prioritizing safety excellence and superior service quality.
